Understanding Urs & Fatiha Schedules

Last Updated October 10, 2025

al-Quran

As a rule, we would commemorate a weekly Fatiha schedules every Thursday after ‘Asr Salat in the early days of Sarkar’s role as a Pir-o-Murshid. However, our Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) moved the Fatiha to Friday to be respectful of the Fatiha being observed in Dargah Aaliya Tajia in Meva Shah back in 1984. Since then, we’ve been observing our Jummah Fatiha when it doesn’t coincide with any other Urs or Baba Tajuddin (ra)’s Monthly 26th (Chabbeesvi Shareef).

However, Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) has given slightly varying instructions based on need, so it is recommended that everyone in the Silsila observe their Fatiha and Urs based on their closest Sarkari Astana, whether it is Ottawa, Karachi, Nagpur, or Kuala Lumpur.

Later Editions:

Hazrat Zaheen Shah Taji (ra): It is important to point out that although this was the line-up Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) had given me, apart from his own Urs commemoration. He also commemorated Urs for Hazrat Zaheen Shah Baba (ra) on the 16th of Shabaan, during the last 4 years or so. But when asked if I should add this into the official list that I kept for all the Urs, Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) simply said, “Not yet, remind me later and I’ll tell you then.”

Hazrat Amma Mariyam Sahiba (ra): He also commemorated Urs for Amma Ji (ra) several times around 2015 and 2016, most likely. After several years, he resumed her Urs in the last 4 to 5 years. I never asked him about adding her Urs to my list. However, his intention became self-evident when he not only celebrated her Urs during the 27th of Shawwaal, but also asked me to formulate her titles to be added to Isaal-e-Sawaab on May 6th, 2024. Therefore, I have included her Urs in my listing beginning from that day.

Milad-e-Nabawi (saw): As some of you have correctly pointed out, my Urs listing still mentioned the 9th of Rabi-ul-Awwal. I have taken guidance from some of my respected Pir Bhai and have corrected this date to the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Although the correction has taken place, it is still interesting to note why the 9th of Rabi-ul-Awwal was mentioned in the first place. It was because Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) had celebrated it on the 9th of Rabi-ul-Awwal for many years before changing it to the 12th. As far as I know, he reasoned that according to many, Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah (saw) was born on a Monday. This correlates to the Hijri date to be on the 9th. However, just a few years after moving to Texas, likely around 2007, Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) changed it to the 12th. I remember him mentioning that:

  1. There are blessings (Barakah) to go with the consensus on these things.
  2. There wasn’t enough evidence to deviate from what the consensus was in the first place.

Conclusion:

These later editions remind us that the path of remembrance is not static but living and ever-evolving. Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) himself showed us that the commemoration of Urs and sacred events must be carried out with sincerity, reflection, and respect for tradition while also remaining open to adjustment when needed. Whether through honoring Hazrat Zaheen Shah Baba (ra), Hazrat Amma Mariyam Sahiba (ra), or aligning with the consensus on Milad-e-Nabawi (saw), each decision reflects a balance between spiritual authenticity and collective unity. May Allah grant us the wisdom to preserve these sacred traditions with the same humility and devotion that Sarkar Baba Sahib (ra) embodied.
