Who Is It For:
It is only available to those in the Silsila or by direct authorization by a Certified Sheikh, who also has this authorization. This is why we have restricted access to this page. One notable thing about Mil-Hamd Invocation is that it can be done for someone, not in your presence. For example, it can be done for family, friends, relatives, acquaintances, or anyone who may not be there. Step 4 (mentioned below) can be done in thought alone in remote cases. In short, there are restrictions on who can perform Mil-Hamd, but there is no limit on who it can be done for. They may be in a different part of the world, and it would still be okay. They may be Muslims, non-Muslims, part of Silsila, maybe not part of the Silsila, they can be people who like us or those that may not like us so much (God Forbid) it doesn’t matter. It can be performed for anyone, anywhere, at any time.
What Is Mil-Hamd:
Mil-Hamd is a variation of Al-Hamd (Surah Fatiha), which was adopted by Hazrat Baba Fareeduddin Mas’ood Ganj-e-Shakr (ra) in order to help alleviate physical, mental, behavioral, emotional, motivational, spiritual, environmental, professional, financial, supernatural, and relational problems. These are just some of the categories that we’ve seen addressed over the years. But as Allah (swt) has no limits, the same applies to how he comes to aid us. In essence, most of the Prayers, Invocations (Damm), Sacred Chants (Auraad), and Incantations (Vazaif) in our Silsila have come down to us as a blessing of Hazrat Baba Fareed (ra).
Where Should It Be Done:
This can be done just about anywhere clean. It is best done in private (not a must) so that one can concentrate fully.
When To Do Mil-Hamd:
It can be done at any time of the day or night. However, Sarkar (ra) used to recommend that it be done after Isha Salat for these reasons:
- The person is already in a state of cleanliness through ablution.
- The solace of the night makes it easier to concentrate.
- Finally, since Salat has just been done, there’s an aura of blessings present.
Why Is It Done:
Consider Mil-Hamd as a prescription medicine equivalent to divine help. Although, everyone has the ability to raise their hands to (or focus toward) their creator and ask whatever is in their heart. And it is only up to their creator to grant their wish quickly or delay. However, certain prayers have had some unusual effects. Notice how, in the Quran, there are passages where Allah (swt) himself teaches us how to ask him. He prefers certain ways of asking over other ways. Mil-Hamd is one of those rare preferred ways that some Auliya-e-Karam have found to be extremely beneficial.
How To Do Mil-Hamd:
There are only 2 small modifiers to Surah Al-Fatiha for it to be used as Mil-Hamd:
1. We start with the verse:
Bismillaahir rahmaanir rahee
Notice the missing 'm' at the end. It's a modifier.2. After this modified Bismillaah, we attach the missing 'm' to Al-Hamd Shareef like this:
Mil-hamdu lillaahi rabbil 'aalameen
Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem
Maaliki Yawmid-Deen
Iyyaaka na'budu wa lyyaaka nasta'een
Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem
Siraatal-lazeena an'amta 'alaihim ghayril-maghdoobi 'alaihim wa lad-daaalleen3. After this, we read:
Ameen, Ameen, Ameen4. Apply:
Blow on your palms, and rub your palms on all parts of your body or
that of a loved one (if this is for someone else), where ever possible.
These 4 steps, in this exact sequence, are a single set. To complete Mil-Hamd, this set needs an addition of 6 more sets for a total of 7 sets in total to complete.
Note: This entire process MUST begin with the reading of Darood Shareef 3 times. And the reading of Darood Shareef 3 times at the final completion, for a total of 6 Darood Shareef. Please Do NOT Skip This Crucial Detail!
Mil-Hamd Damm Prayer should look like this from start to finish:
Darood Shareef - 3 times ---------Set 1: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 2: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 3: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 4: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 5: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 6: Steps 1-4 ---------Set 7: Steps 1-4 Darood Shareef - 3 times
