Caretaker or Custodian. (common)
Someone who sits at the seat of the throne. (literal)
A person appointed as a Custodian of a Dargah of a Sufi Sheikh or his Astana. (accurate)
People very often mistake Gaddi-Nasheen to be synonymous with Sajjadah-Nasheen. The difference is that Sajjadah-Nasheen is appointed directly by Sufi Sheikh. Gaddi-Nasheen are not appointed directly. But they can be someone from the lineage of Sajjadah-Nasheen or a third party selected by consensus. (details)
In Our Silsila Yousufi, Jaan-Nasheen, Sajjadah-Nasheen, Gaddi-Nasheen, or Khulifa are not appointed based on genetic-relationship. (For Us)
